FAQs

Do I need this App if we already have emails lists and send everyone information this way...?

OK, emails have their place! ...but this does not even require people to 'give' your their email address..

All of our inboxes are overloaded already..

The 'push notification' feature means that the App will alert people when you have just 'sent' out a message - or an update to the App

People can interact with you directly on the App without using their email and the 'forms' and 'actions' on the App are much more easily processed than a bloated inbox back at the church office

We're already using Youtube and Twitter and websites and Facebook and will this not simply add more to our burden?

CONGRATULATIONS...it is great that you are doing all you can to stay in touch and reach out to your community! This App will ensure that all of those other mechanisms are better used and applied. In fact it can become a bit confusing and tiresome for your members to have to relate to you through this whole variety of mechanisms without having a simple 'dashboard' on the phone to let them navigate through all of the options!

What about costs - how can it be free!

It's Donorware - so it's up to you..... zero contribution is totally fine for anyone who needs it!  We (Summer Madness) have developed this resource and wish to bless others with it. Yes, there are indeed some ongoing costs involved and we are confident that a 'donation' system will provide sufficiently for that. Any surplus will be applied to the ministry of the annual SM festival. The ongoing development of the App tools are provided primarily on the back of volunteer skills and input.

We might suggest that something around  5 - 10 per month would be amazing value. BUT if it's working for you, we would rather you offer what seems right and affordable for you!

(Check out the web and you'll find 'free App builders' which then charge around £50 per month for the native version to be published in the Apple store and Play store (necessary for 'push notifications').

How secure is it?

As secure as your login details! Bear in mind that we - and you don't store any individual or sensitive data on the system in any case. There are no personal identifiers stored on the App admin.

Will you be data collecting or pushing content?

No!...but we can offer leaders extra content and features as they get developed....but it will always be up to you as the leader /admin  to implement them or not.. Completely Ad Free!

What about the people who don't have a smart phone?

Is there ever a 'one size fits all' ?

The App can be viewed on a phone, a tablet, a laptop or any device with a browser - and the percentage of people who do not connect with any of these is becoming smaller and smaller. So looking to the future (which we are often encouraged to do!) this will become less of an issue - even amongst the economically disadvantaged.

I'm not a techie - can we pay someone to set it up for us?

Sure thing - you might know someone from your own contacts or you can give us a call anytime on 07788562340 and we will happily oblige at minimal cost.

Can we 'message' people through the App?

YES, but bear in mind that Apps can behave somewhat differently depending on the type of phone (Apple or Android) or whether users are simply interacting through a browser (on their laptop). YOUR app is both a 'native' app - which downloads from the App store as well as being a PWS (Progressive Web App - like a mini-website). The most reliable way for the Push Notifcations to work is through the native Apps. The Chrome browser is also pretty reliable for push notes, but Safari not so much. So encourage your users to DOWNLOAD the app and make push notes work for you.

Can we send push notes to specific 'user groups'... like parents - or leaders

YES, you simply get them to 'sign in' to the App in a specific way - which provides additional content for that 'user group' and also allows you to distinguish the notifications to particular groups
